Targets & goals

FIDE was in search of software providers to create a new web portal. The portal should be modern, user-friendly, and contain information about events, tournaments, and player ratings, and keep a good performance under a load of players, national federations, and chess fans around the world. They chose Kodansoft, thanks to our proven expertise in web application development.
We kicked off the project with a discovery phase, turning our customer’s vision into a full-fledged portal concept with the help of our business analyst and designer:

Providing a unified information space for all chess lovers and national federations, accessible from any device

Convenient player rating management system, advanced rating search, connection of data from different national federations

The ability for users to add and register chess tournaments on the federation portal, publish the results of such tournaments

Creation of a multifunctional administration panel for unique goals and tasks of the portal

Statistics and analytics implementation

Automation of event management processes on the portal with pre-moderation

Connecting Youtube API for live broadcasts of competitions

Transfer of existing sections of the portal to a new and convenient interface

In the first month after the release, FIDE noted an increase in site traffic and received many high ratings from representatives of national federations and players. During the first six months of the portal’s operation, the number of users increased by more than 50 percent, and the average audience engagement increased by 2.5.
